CHEMDOX is the authoring software to create your safety data sheets (SDSs) in accordance with:

  • GHS system of the United Nations (UNECE)
  • REACH in conjunction with the CLP Regulations (CLP; EU implementation of the GHS)
  • OSHA, appendix D to 29 CFR 1910.1200 of the United States
  • all national GHS implementations where a CHEMDOX country package is available

Starting from your (automatically) classified product you can create safety data sheets (SDSs) easily and in many different languages for international use.

Safety Data Sheet (SDS / MSDS) basic settings

Safety Data Sheet (SDS / MSDS) basic settings

In each specific safety data sheet (SDS) for a given product (substance or mixture) the following choices are supported:

  • Selection of the supplier (i.e. distributor, legal person with responsibility for the created safety data sheet (SDS))
  • Intended use
  • Selection of the country for which the safety data sheet (SDS) is being created
  • Selection of the language in which the safety data sheet (SDS) is being created
  • Applicable GHS regulation
  • Version of the document
  • Selection of the custom template used to create the safety data sheet (SDS)
  • Country-specific settings (e.g. national occupational exposure limits)

Templates

Templates

In CHEMDOX the creation of safety data sheets (SDS) is based on templates.

Each template defines:

  1. LAYOUT such as positioning, fonts, colours, tables, etc.
  2. RULES for the output of:
  • Substance and classification data from the substance database
  • Texts, phrases or text blocks from the phrase catalogue
  • Graphics (e.g. symbols and pictograms for labelling from the symbol library
  • Supplier information (e.g. address, logo, etc.)

CHEMDOX comes with a set of standard templates for different legal provisions and sectors. Use the standard templates to easily develop your own templates with your own personal layout and rules.

Rules in Templates

The output of contents is based on rules within the template.

Contents such as substance data and classification data come from the substance database; phrases and text blocks come from the phrase catalogue, graphics (e.g. symbols and pictograms for labelling come from the symbol library or supplier information section (e.g. address, logo).

These contents can be displayed NEVER, ALWAYS, or SOMETIMES, by taking into account the DEFAULT settings, or on the basis of individually definable RULES.

e.g.

Display a certain phrase
IF
"physical state" = "gaseous"
AND
"odour"= "no odour is perceptible"
